Whether you’re a horse enthusiast, a serial fashion addict or just looking for a fun day out, the Galway Races has something for everyone. It's more than just the racing that brings people out: it's the air full of excitement, the whispering of gossip and good tips, the aroma of cooking food, the delightful sound of a pint pouring, champagne popping, and the sense of fortunes won and lost on the bet on a strong and sturdy steed.

The Best Dressed Lady Competition takes place on what is traditionally known as Ladies Day on Thursday, July 29th. This year’s competition is again generously sponsored by Anthony Ryan Ltd of Shop Street, Galway. There is no entry to this competition…judges wander through the crowds and invite chosen finalists to the Anthony Ryan Marquee, where the winners are announced after the main race of the day. A generous first prize, a runner up prize and a prize for the best hat will be awarded to the lucky winners on the day.

Family Day & Mad Hatters, Sunday August 1st Family Day at the Galway Races is Sunday August 1st, the last day of the Summer Festival Meeting. The Mad Hatters theme will continue for 2010, patrons are invited to don a mad hat which would bring a smile to Galway Faces and be in with a chance to win fabulous prizes. Mad Hatters Day in 2009 saw more unusual, creative and colourful mad hats and it's hoped that this year will surpass even last years great efforts. Children under 14 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free of charge on Family Day, Sunday August 1st.
