Anna Daly

Visitors to the Showhouse at the TOP Ideal Home Show will have a special treat in store, as Ireland AM presenter Anna Daly will be making appearances over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend from October 23rd to 26th.

Anna will open the doors by presenting an outside broadcast from the showhouse to Ireland AM viewers on Friday, 23rd October. She will be speaking to interior designer, Sinead Kelly about the ins and outs of this year’s showhouse and go from room to room examining the different elements that make a house a home. They will examine every room in detail with packages demonstrating money saving heating tips to state of the art home entertainment systems from Total Package.

With Anna’s hectic working & social schedule she really enjoys her downtime chilling out with husband Ben and entertaining friends at home. Working early hours on Ireland AM means that that home time is a real treat. Anna enjoys interior design features on Ireland AM and loves picking up new soft furnishings for their home as well as keeping it fresh and modern and a lovely place to spend time. With that in mind, Anna is a regular to the TOP Ideal Home Show and is looking for tips on home improvement at this year’s show, as well as advice on a new sound system for her living room. “The TOP Ideal Home Show is an ideal place for homeowners to get the best advice on a range of topics for the home, including DIY tips, Interior Design advice, even Irish Cooking recipes, as well being the place to get the best bargains for everything related to the home”.

First Fashion Memory?

Frilly pink shorts with green piping which looked like a skirt. Think I wore them all summer when I was about 8 years of age!

Favourite Designer Label?

Chanel for their timeless handbags.

What’s on the top of your wish list at the moment?

A quilted Chanel handbag in black or cream.

Favourite High-Street Store?

Fran & Jane / Warehouse / Zara. I also like Noa Noa, they'll be at the Fashion Show at the TOP Ideal Home Show, so I'm looking forward to seeing their latest collection.

Most treasured piece?

My Jenny Packham wedding dress. I'll adore it forever.

What’s your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe and where did you get it?

A beige suede coat dress from Tommy Hilfiger - it's the kind of thing that I'll have for years to come and will never date.

What’s your favourite boutique?

Butik in Newbridge, Co Kildare. At the moment I have a lovely cream and pink sequin covered dress from Butik that I've worn to various occasions and people always ask me where it's from. I'm in and out of Lara on Dame Lane all the time too - Lara has a great eye so you'll always find something stunning in there.

What’s your biggest style weakness?

Too much black! I'm getting better though.

Can you remember the biggest fashion faux paux you have every made?

There's loads of them - Joe Bloggs jeans, fingerless gloves, crepes (shoes with wedge on the sole!!!)

Stranded on a dessert Island...what makeup products could you not live without?

Moisturiser.

How would you describe your style?

I always find this question very tough, it changes depending on my mood or the occasion! Most of the time it's laid back and casual though.

A fake fur jacket in Camden market, London for twenty quid.

What is the most admired piece in your wardrobe?

My GINA shoes. They jump out and steal all the attention from everything else!

I'm not a huge fan of the sales - i rarely find things I want to buy and much prefer being in shops where clothes are clearly displayed. It's much more of a pleasure to shop when it's not sale time.

What was the last item you bought and where?

A top in Zara in Portugal last week!

Do you shop on-line? If so what’s your favourite website, if not, why?

I'm a big fan of Littlewoods Ireland. From their own labels such as 'love label' to well known ones like 'Miss Sixty' and 'lipsy' there's always plenty of great pieces. They also have some celeb ranges and I'm loving the Fearne Cotton range, I just bagged myself a cream wool dress from that collection. It's always worth a look and makes shopping so easy! experience and personal contact.

Most Expensive Item in your Wardrobe?

My wedding dress!

And if you’re feeling brave tell us how much it cost?

Couldn't possibly!

Paul Hession looks after my hair. Paul and his team in the salon in Drumcondra are hugely talented and they've just opened up a new salon in Clontarf too.

Share your best fashion tip?

In the words of Coco Chanel, when accessorising take off the last thing you put on.

Do you have any beauty secrets?

Not really but I try to follow the basic rules i.e. getting plenty of sleep, drinking water as often as possible and always keeping my skin hydrated.

What’s your most memorable fashion moment?

My wedding day. I loved my dress and felt so comfortable.

What should every woman have in their wardrobe?

A great pair of jeans, a pair of killer heels, a little black dress and a great winter coat.

What’s your best last minute tip for feeling fabulous on the inside at an event or party?

Get your hair done for a night out - that salon feeling always helps to make you feel better about yourself.

Finally, how has the recession affected how you shop?

I shop less often but buy more quality items. Quality not quantity as they say....
